This blog was created to communicate my experiences of living abroad to my friends and family (those who are interested). I guess now that we are living in the States again it will have to evolve into something new.
I try to make it as interesting as possible… although as Yoda says: “Do or do not, there is no try”. I have been told that my writing is more interesting and much more intelligent than my verbal skills, so you may be pleasantly surprised. But then, I often speak like I’m a 13 year old cheerleader (no offense to all the well spoken 13 year old cheerleaders).
I enjoy photography. I spent several years studying photography in college. But I’ve been working in tech since 1999. I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up.
I’ve been shooting with my Nikon D70s in the last year or so. Some of the photos from Europe were taken with my Sony Ericsson K750i (mobile phone). And I just got a Canon SD1100 IS for my birthday (Wheeee!). I also have an Nikon F100 and my super basic Pentax K1000 for film. I have various other cameras (Holga 120, 4X5 land camera, several polaroids, etc) but I’ve been mostly working on my fly digital skilz lately (besides the fact that it’s cheaper, faster, and more environmentally sound).
I enjoy food. Particularly that which is made with butter. I will pretty much try anything (unless it is licorice or pumpernickle flavored). However, I’m not the person that will order the strangest thing on the menu just to try it. But if you order it or make it, I will try it. I like to cook. There are posts about my sucesses (and my failures!) in the kitchen.
I like to travel. I like to learn about new cultures and get a different perspective (that you can’t get from staying in your own state/country). However, I am not the person that will pack their life into a backpack and spend 3 months in the same 2 outfits. 2 pair of shoes maybe…
I am sarcastic. To a fault sometimes. I have been called abrasive. I often have my foot in my mouth. Most of the time I do not intend to be unkind/unfriendly. I am actually a nice person though…really.
I am married to my Sweet Baboo, Chris-to-pher…my lean legged libertarian lover. I’m sure it makes Chris a little uncomfortable when I recount the moments of our life.
I have two kitties, Zira and Cornelius. They enjoy being blogged about. See…Zira just smiled (yes, Chris, with her kitty lips).

Ames! Chris! You both made it - congrats! Loving the blog so far, especially the snippets / photographs on food (go figure).
Couple of comments on your laundry blog:
1) It appears that the only thing you guys wear is towels - is that a new Italian fashion thing?
2) Are you SURE you’re turning into a domestic goddess Amy, or is Chris actually doing the laundry and you’re just taking the credit?
Also, I must know…..is your toilet actually raised up, or is a porcelain hole in the ground? I’m still having nightmares about the public restrooms in Italy. I mean, I can’t aim THAT well…give me a seat already!
Have gads of fun and see all you can!
