Recently I was fortunate enough to attend a long-time-friend’s wedding.  And even more fortunate that she has enough sisters (and sister-in-law) that I was in no jeopardy of bridesmaid duty.  Although I’m sure Aileen was a calm, caring, and rational bride (Gwen if you’re reading this, breath deep).

Even though I was flying solo to the wedding (Chris stayed in Europe this trip), I found a few kindred souls that included me in their celebrating.  Kathleen and Kristen are bella ragazze (beautiful girls)!

This photo was taken just after the maid of honor’s toast, they have tears in their eyes.

This wedding was elegant, not over the top P.Diddy style glamor.  I was all beautifully tied together and had a kind of New England seaside theme.  Aileen has beautiful taste and it showed!  And although it had rained miserably that morning, by early afternoon the sun came out and the sky was gorgeous.

How fabulous! Oooh, it glows!  Notice the signature drink: blue margaritas!

The cake! Tasted as good as it looked!!

So that is the backdrop to my experience.  Beauty, leisure, great company!

Have you ever attended a wedding just because you were invited, and because you should be there (like a co-worker, distant cousin, or as a guest of a guest)?  You’re not invested in the event, just attending and enjoying.  This was not that kind of wedding.

What a great night!  This was a wedding that I truly celebrated that the bride and groom had found each other and were getting married.  I may not have shown it as well as others, but I was so happy to be there to celebrate that day with Aileen and Brendan.  I hope that they know how much it meant to me to be included.

Ok, I’m making myself gag with all these sappy thoughts about weddings and how beautiful the bride was (yes, she was) etc.

How happy does she look?!

I know that Brendan and Aileen will have each other no matter what happens…and that they will have fun along the way!

Isn’t that the best?!
We should all have that.

So I wish you all many reasons for celebration and a hope that you find the people that make it all worth it.
I know that my friends and family do.  And of course my Sweet Baboo.

Ooops, there goes the gag reflex again!

Photographs of people eating are not usually the most flattering.  In fact, it’s probably not a great idea all around.  Even that lovely tradition of capturing the Bride and Groom feeding each other wedding cake.  Really cute maybe, but not usually flattering.  Rachel Ray seems to have a certain flare in this arena…can you imagine that part of your job is to have video of you eating on a regular basis?!

Anyway, I think this post from the bloggers of Vanity Fare is rather funny…
